Asian Games legacy to help Almaty in fulfilling strategic plans
ALMATY. February 9. KAZINFORM /Yekaterina Ionova/ Almaty has all the conditions for development of tourism industry but it is not going to happen automatically. We need a system to work in this direction to create infrastructure and large public relations campaign. Almaty Mayor Akhmetzhan Yessimov said it at the meeting with city residents.
He noted that thanks to the facilities built for the Asian Games Almaty and Astana became owners of unique sports complexes that met all international standards. Many international sports federations are planning to hold sports competitions of high level in Almaty now.
According to him these facilities should be beneficial for city residents and guests of the city. They have to be available for those who are willing to go in for sports. These modern facilities must become a place to develop child sport, to attract professional sportsmen to train at, they should be recreational and cultural centers.
'We will host the Ski Jumping World Cup stage in Almaty this year. The B. Sholak Sports Palace will be the place to hold a very significant for all Kazakhstanis event - the UEFA Futsal Cup Finals. The alpine skating rink 'Medeu' will become a venue to hold the Bandy World Championship in January 2012', the Mayor said.
The tourism sector will contribute a lot to the GDP growth of Kazakhstan. Almaty has all conditions for development of this sector and assisting in fulfilling strategic plans.
