ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships: Kazakhstani boxers to vie for medals
Kazakhstan's boxing team won six bouts and lost only one match at the ASBC Asian Elite Men and Women Boxing Championships in Chiang Mai, Kazinform News Agency cites Olympic.kz.
Biibars Zheksen (60kg) of Kazakhstan was stunned by Akmal Ubaidov of Tajikistan in the quarterfinal bout. The Tajik athlete won the fight by unanimous decision.
Yerassyl Zhakpekov (80kg) propelled to the semifinals by defeating Sagyn Satybaldy uulu of Kyrgyzstan.
Zhazira Orakbayeva (52kg) secured an early win against Lin Yu-ting of Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals.
Orazbek Assylkulov (57kg) knocked a Thai boxer out of the ASBC Asian Elite Men and Women Boxing Championships.
Ulzhan Sarsenbek (57kg) beat Tran Nguyen of Vietnam.
Viktoriya Grafeyeva (60kg) also advanced to the semifinals by winning Chen-Xuan Ye of Taipei.
It should be noted that all boxers who cruised into the semifinals guaranteed themselves a medal.
