As OIC Chair, Kazakhstan to promote interfaith dialogue - Kazakh Ambassador to Uzbekistan
TASHKENT. February 8. KAZINFORM /Kurmat Samarkhan/ As OIC Chair, Kazakhstan will promote interfaith dialogue. Kazakh Ambassador to Uzbekistan Boribai Zheksembin said at a briefing for local and foreign journalists on Tuesday.
This year Kazakhstan will chair the Organization of the Islamic Conference that unites 57 countries.
"Kazakhstan suggested strengthening the dialogue between the West and the Islamic world. The fact that in 2010 Kazakhstan chaired the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and in 2011 it will work in the OSCE Troika creates conditions for establishing and strengthening the OSCE-OIC dialogue", B. Zheksembin emphasized.
According to him, chairmanship in the OIC should enhance the Asian vector of Kazakhstan's foreign policy. "Kazakhstan takes the chairmanship in the OIC with great responsibility and plans to actively work on solving topical problems of the Muslim world", the diplomat said.
