Around 60 new fires keep Moscow under fog blanket

MOSCOW. July 27. KAZINFORM Fog from sixty new fires that emerged in the Moscow region still blankets the Russian capital; Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.

"Over the past 24 hours 58 new fires emerged on the area of 48.25 hectares in the Moscow region, thirty of them are peat fires that covered the area of almost 20 hectares," an official at the regional emergencies ministry told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.

Peat fires are reported in the Shatura, Yegoryevsk, Noginsk and Pavlovsky Posad districts.

A group of the Emergencies Ministry's planes, including Be-200 amphibious jet, two Il-76 planes and Mi-8 helicopter, are engaged in the fire-fighting operation.

During the period of fires 1,425 fires on the territory of over 1,200 hectares, including 482 peat fires on the territory of over 522 hectares, were reported in the Moscow region.
