ArcelorMittal increased aid to victims of Haiti earthquake up to USD 1 mln
KARAGANDA. January 26. KAZINFORM /Valentina Yelizarova/ ArcelorMittal increased the size of the humanitarian aid to the victims of Haiti earthquake up to USD 1 mln; the press service of the Company said.
This donation will be given in both cash and kind, offering assistance in new housing projects to rebuild Haiti. ArcelorMittal is also encouraging its employees to support other local initiatives in the country.
"The painful images and news of the earthquake in Haiti have shocked all of us. The scale of the devastation is beyond comprehension. I would like to express my deepest sympathies to all the people affected in this tragedy. I hope with our help, and help of others, that we will be able to bring support in rebuilding the country and support those who have suffered", Chairman and CEO of ArcelorMittal Lakshmi Mittal said.
As earlier reported, The ArcelorMittal Foundation donated USD 100 thousand to enable the MSF (Medecins Sans Frontieres) intervention in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
