ASTANA. April 26. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ I Congress of CIS Teachers has kicked off in the capital's Korme Expo Center today. Minister of Education and Science Zhansseit Tuimebayev has read out a welcoming speech of President Nursultan Nazarbayev to the participants.
"It is symbolic that the I Congress of the CIS Teachers takes place in Kazakhstan. The Republic of Kazakhstan has always stood for broad cooperation among the CIS states not only in trade-economic sphere but also in education, strengthening the contacts of scientific-educational elite. Amid the global crisis our countries face an objective of socio-economic renovation and the role of education in achievement of this long-term goal is higher than ever.
The CIS countries share common understanding of great role of teacher and qualitative education which is proved by the current Congress. The forum must focus on formation of single educational space in the Commonwealth, creation of efficient mechanisms of its functioning", the letter of welcome reads.
