American judoka expelled from Olympic Games for doping

LONDON. August 7. KAZINFORM American judoka Nicholas Delpopolo has been disqualified from the London Olympics after testing positive for cannabis, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) confirmed Monday.
Delpopolo, who finished seventh in the men's 73kg category of the judo competition, failed a drugs test carried out on July 30 which showed traces of marijuana in his sample.
"The athlete explained his positive test was caused by his inadvertent consumption of food (prior to his leaving for the London Olympic Games) that he did not realize had been baked with marijuana," the IOC said in a statement, Xinhua reports.
