American Documentary Showcase in Astana

ASTANA. September 22. KAZINFORM The American Documentary Showcase, a documentary film series sponsored by the U.S. Embassy, will take place September 24-26th in Astana. Two American film experts, Alexandru Rotaru, director of "Kids with Cameras" and veteran film expert and educator Diane Carson, will be honored guests at the film festival.

The American Documentary Showcase brings award-winning contemporary American documentaries to audiences around the world to offer a view of American society and culture as seen by independent documentary filmmakers. The documentaries explore diverse topics including civil rights, the treatment of military veterans, environmentalism and freedom of the press. American filmmakers and film experts participating in the 2011 American Documentary Showcase will travel to Greece, Uzbekistan, India, Bangladesh and more than a dozen other countries throughout the year, the US Diplomatic Mission to Kazakhstan said.

The U.S. Embassy in Kazakhstan is pleased to screen the following Russian subtitled movies: We Still Live Here, The Most Dangerous Man in America, Make Believe, Kids with Cameras, Poster Girl and Niger' 66.
