Almaty to be declared city of Islamic culture in 2015
ASTANA. November 27. KAZINFORM "Almaty will be declared the city of Islamic culture in 2015. Such decision was made at one of the last session of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO)", Director General of the ISESCO Abdul Aziz Othman Al- Tuweijry said at the meeting with Kazakh ambassador Bakhtiyar Tasymov held in Rabat (Morocco) within the third meeting of the Contact Group of the Alliance of civilizations, Kazinform refers to the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.
According to him, the coming Kazakhstan's OSCE chairmanship in 2011 witnesses the increased prestige of Kazakhstan. He expressed hope that the Kazakhstan's chairmanship will provide an opportunity to strengthen traditional contacts of the European Union with the Mediterranean States in cultural and humanitarian spheres.
The Kazakh Diplomat briefed the interlocutor on main foreign initiatives of our country, aimed at provision of global and regional stability and security, establishment of dialogue between confessions, told about the activity of the Assembly of Peoples of Kazakhstan.
