Almaty remains country's largest city, its development is one of priority challenges - Nazarbayev
ANA. July 3. KAZINFORM /Serik Sabekov/ Despite of the difficulties caused by the global financial crisis the paces of new houses commissioning in Almaty grow, Akim of the city Akhmetzhan Yessimov has said at the video-conference today
"Over the first half of 2009 housing construction in Almaty has risen by 12% comparing with the same period in 2008", he noted.
During the dialogue A. Yessimov presented a project of construction of a new district Kokzhiek where 8000 people were expected to live. 62 houses are planned to be built in the district. 1067 apartments have already been put into commission to date. The district has its own boiler plant and an electric power substation. Social infrastructure facilities, including hospitals, kindergartens, recreation centers and parking are being built.
In turn, N. Nazarbayev noted that "Almaty has always been the largest city of the country, therefore the state gives special attention to its development"
