Thanks to the natural and climatic zone, availability of fertile ground and water resources the region takes the lead in the agrarian sector. The Almaty region gross agricultural output hit 227.8 bln tenge in 2010 increasing by 69 times against 1991. What could you say about the 2011 results?

Our region leads the country in the agrarian sector producing more than 60 crops. We are ranking the first among the regions in the production of sugar beet, corn, soybean, tobacco, potato and vegetables, takes the second place in the production of rice, fruits and berries, milk. In 2010 gross agricultural output hit 227.8 bln tenge, this year we plan output to the amount of 227.8 bln. Our region is also dominating in the countrywide production of grape wine, poultry meat, and tobacco products.

During his working visit to the Almaty region July this year Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed the need to providing the population with the local fruits and vegetables. What could you say about the rehabilitation of apple orchards, especially, of aport apple variety?

The region is a home of aport apple that is our competitive edge. However, lately we witnessed its degradation: the fruits grew small, lost their forms and flavor, and their taste changed for the worst. Therefore, the point at issue is to revive the Almaty famous aport. Besides, it is planned to increase 4,000 ha of areas cultivated by 2014.

One of the key tasks set by the President is the establishment of a food belt around Almaty city. How do you solve this issue?

Pursuant to the President's instruction we have been realizing 51 projects worth 36 bln tenge so far. We put into operation a premix and concentrates production plant and a milk processing plant. There are 459 greenhouse facilities, 112 are under construction. In the nearest future, the problem of supply of the population with early vegetable products will be removed form the agenda. Besides, the region has 48 commercial diary farms and 9 poultry farms.

Our key task is to prevent goods off-season price hikes that's why Zhetysu social and entrepreneurial corporation buys now the agrarian producers' goods.

What could you say about the realization of the Forced Industrial and Innovation Development Program in your region?

Within the state-run program we implemented 15 facilities, 7 will be completed by the year-end to the amount of 235 bln. The region is implementing two republican projects worth 207 bln tenge - construction of the Moinak HPP and Zhetygen-Khorgos railway line. The program also foresees construction of a 4 ha greenhouse facility, a large met-processing complex and a 13-tons greenery.

For the 20 years of independence about 1.5 trillion tenge has been channeled to the region. This year it is planned to attract 354.5 bln tenge that is 11.4 times more against 1991.
