Almaty Mayor: Provision of tax revenues and employment - two main challenges amid crisis
ATY. August 4. KAZINFORM /Daniyar Sikhimbayev/ Yesterday Akim of Almaty city Akhmetzhan Yessimov took part in an enlarged session on the results of the city's socio-economic development in the first half of 2009 and the tasks for the second half.
Top officials of the departments for economy and budgetary planning, employment and social programs, passenger transport and highways, finances and land relations, healthcare, tourism, sport and physical education, tax department as well as Zhetisu SEC submitted their reports for discussion.
Realization of the Road Map was in spotlight of the participants of the sitting. This is one of the priority challenges set by President Nursultan Nazarbayev. According to A. Yessimov, unemployment pressure is not observed in the city now. "Today we possess all necessary funds to direct them for creating new working places and we have an opportunity to re-train people in case they lose their jobs. For this purpose special working programs have been elaborated. However, I can't say they are implemented quite well, because the number of such people is small, but we have necessary money for organization of re-training courses", the Akim said.
"There are two main challenges in the conditions of crisis. The first challenge is to provide tax revenues in order we could execute all social programs. The second challenge is employment. I think these problems are solved at present, but we must continue our work in these directions", A. Yessimov stressed.
