Almaty interested in food supply from Belarus - A.Yessimov

MATY. September 8. KAZINFORM Today Almaty Akim (Mayor) Akhmetzhan Yessimov has met with a delegation of the Republic of Belarus headed by Deputy Prime Minister Valery Ivanov; the akimat's press service reports.

The Mayor noted that the two countries' cooperation develops dynamically. The recent visit of the Belarusian President demonstrates it. A.Yessimov emphasized that Almaty consumes food amounting to more than USD 2.5 bln. Main suppliers of the city are Almaty region and other oblasts. But production amounting to USD 1 bln is supplied from other countries; hence the city is interested in food supply from Belarus.

The Belarusian representatives expressed interest in deliveries of agricultural, chemical production in Almaty. "We are interested in cooperation with Belarus. The first step can be taken on vegetables supply. The city has great potential, and we are ready for a joint work," A.Yessimov said.

The Belarusian Vice Premier outlined big interest of the Kazakh enterprises to the Belarusian production and expressed readiness for cooperation.

The Belarusian delegation arrived in Almaty for participation in the national exhibition "Belarus EXPO-2011."
