All heads of state confirm participation in CIS summit in Minsk
MINSK. October 15. KAZINFORM All the heads of state have confirmed their plans to take part in the session of the CIS Council of Heads of State that will be held in Minsk at the end of October, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on 14 October at a meeting to discuss preparations for the summit, BelTA has learnt.
The CIS heads of state will take part in sessions of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and the CIS Council of Heads of State on 24-25 October. According to the President, those are the top events.
Alexander Lukashenko noted that the program of the summit had already been drafted and asked adopt and forward it promptly to the CIS member states and the CIS Executive Committee.
The summit will take place in the Palace of Independence. According to the President, this venue will offer the most comfortable working conditions for the participants of the summit. The construction of the Palace of Independence is nearing completion. Alexander Lukashenko wanted updates on the progress of the construction works. "Everything should be done to make our guests feel comfortable," he said.
The President noted that all the organizational matters related to the conduct of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and the CIS Council of Heads of State need close control. In his words, this pertains to accommodation for the heads and members of the delegations, journalists and jet crews. "No detail should be neglected. Everything should be done perfectly, so that the participants of the session would leave in a good mood and take home the best memories of our capital city and our people. We need to think everything over," the Belarusian head of state said, BelTA reports.
Alexander Lukashenko wanted to know how the preparations are going on, including advertising and media coverage. The President noted that the image part is the responsibility of the Minsk City Council. "I do not demand, on the opposite, I am against wasting money, hanging posters, flags and other stuff on each house. Everything should be stylish, beautiful, convenient and appropriate," the President said.
Belarus' Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei informed about the harmonization of the agenda of the forthcoming integration events and formation of Belarus' position on the matters that will be discussed at the summit. Other participants of the session reported on various aspects of the preparations for the forthcoming events.
