Aktobemunaigas will pay damages of excessive gas flaring
AKTOBE. November 14. KAZINFORM - By the decison of the Specialized Interdistrict Economic Court of Aktobe region Aktobemunaigas Ltd will compensate the damage caused by flaring of excess gas in the amount of KZT 5.3 billion (tenge).
As the press service of the regional prosecutor's office says, the specialized environmental prosecutor's office audited the company's business in July 2013. The activities of auditors revealed numerous violations at the facilities of the company. In particular, the evidence of excess combustion gas has been detected in Kenkiyak, October oil and gas production offices and factories of Zhanazhol refinery complex.
For example, at the facilities of oil refinery as a result of "non-categorial" stops of the process equipment some part of gas burned in flares, and the information in the meters on the flaring torches were undercounted to conform with the permitted volume.
According to the public prosecutor the company has been brought to administrative liability for violation of environmental law with a fine of KZT2.4 billion.
