AKHMET MAUSOLEUM

ASTANA. September 3. KAZINFORM Within the framework of the Cultural Heritage program the Kazinform Information Agency publishes materials about historical monuments of Kazakhstan.

The Akhmet Mausoleum (Kyzyltam) is an architectural monument of the XX century. It is located on the right bank of Ishim River in 7 km from the Tassuat village of the Zharkain municipality of Akmola oblast.

The Akhmet Mausoleum for the first time was studied by a scout party of the Akmola archaeological expedition headed by Kimal Akishev in 1955. In 1980 - by an expedition of the National special scientific-restoration production workshop of Kazrestavratsiya of the Ministry of Culture of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic headed by Z.Shaikenova. In 2006 - by the research department and project affiliate of Kazrestavratsiya Republican State Enterprise headed by Gulnar Kamalova.

It was built under order of merchant Akhmet Tankeyev by constructors Turabay and Rapay.
