During a working visit to Dushanbe, Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov held talks with Minister of Agriculture of Tajikistan Qurbon Hakimzoda.

The sides discussed prospects for cooperation in the agricultural sector, issues of food security, and the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries.

Saparov noted the positive dynamics in mutual trade of agro-industrial products. By the end of 2025, trade turnover of agricultural products between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan increased by 11.5 percent, reaching 595 million US dollars. The positive trend has continued this year: in the first quarter of 2026, the volume of mutual trade grew by 26.1 percent, amounting to 182 million dollars.

The main export products include wheat, flour, vegetable oils, barley, corn, meat products, and other goods.

The Kazakhstan side expressed interest in expanding investment cooperation and establishing joint ventures in flour milling, livestock product processing, confectionery production, vegetable oil manufacturing, and the production of natural juices and concentrates in Kazakhstan with the involvement of Tajik investments.

We propose regularly exchanging information on agro-food events, intensifying cooperation in breeding and seed production, and strengthening partnerships in agricultural science and education, including the exchange of knowledge, experience, and technologies. The implementation of joint initiatives will contribute to ensuring the food security of our countries and expanding exports of agricultural products, said the Kazakh minister.

Special attention during the talks was given to the preparation of a roadmap aimed at intensifying cooperation in agriculture, developed by the relevant ministries of both countries. The document is scheduled to be signed in the second half of this year.

In turn, Hakimzoda confirmed Tajikistan’s interest in further expanding partnership with Kazakhstan, noting the high potential for cooperation in trade, agricultural product processing, agricultural science, and the introduction of modern technologies.

Following the talks, both sides confirmed their readiness to further strengthen partnership and implement joint projects in the agro-industrial complex.

Earlier, Qazinform reported Kazakhstan seeks to expand non-commodity exports to 52 billion US dollars.
