After joining WTO Kazakhstan will liberalize telecommunications services - Economic Integration Minister

ASTANA. November 18. KAZINFORM - After joining the World Trade Organization the scope of telecommunication services in Kazakhstan will be liberalized, this has been reported by the Minister of Economic Integration Zhanar Aytzhanova at the Governmental hour in the Majilis.

According to the Minister after joining the WTO the 49 per cent limit of foreign participation in telecom companies, providing long distance and international calls which are the most profitable segments of the telecommunications market, will become inactive. In 2.5 years foreign operators will be able to open enterprises in Kazakhstan with their 100 percent participation.

Zhanar Aytzhanova also reported that Kazakhstan's negotiators succeeded in maintaining the 49 per cent limit for foreign capital in "Kazakhtelecom" company.
