ADB strengthens cooperation with Kazakhstan in the field of knowledge

ASTANA. June 18. KAZINFORM - Memorandum of Understanding on the exchange program of knowledge and experience in Astana has been signed by the Minister of Economy and Budget Planning Erbolat Dossaev and the ADB Governor from Kazakhstan, the vice-president of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Xiaoyu Zhao, reports the press-service of Kazakhstan's Ministry.

This program is aimed at strengthening collaboration in the field of knowledge between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and ADB with an emphasis on the exchange of advanced knowledge, best practices, and capacity building enhancing the efficiency of the economy and search for innovative solutions.

In addition, under the plan is implementation of joint research in the field of inclusive growth and diversification of the economic, institutional and political development, regional cooperation and integration, and improving competitiveness.

Funding for the research will be carried out on an equal basis (50% - ADB, 50% - the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan) from 2013 to 2015.

As noted by Erbolat Dossaev, Kazakhstan attaches great importance to mutual acitivity with the Asian Development Bank, which is supporting modernization of the economy and realization of important social projects of our country.

In turn, Zhao Xiaoyu said that in countries with above-average income the ADB considers cooperation beyond financial support, and stresses the importance of other models of partnership, in particular complementing investments with advanced solutions.
