Above 3 200 newborns already died in 2012 - Kazakh Agency of Statistics
ASTANA. September 14. KAZINFORM "More than 3 200 infants under the age of one year have already died in Kazakhstan since the beginning of this year," Chairman of the Kazakh Agency of Statistics Alikhan Smailov told a briefing.
"223 000 births were registered, that is 3.8% more than in 2011. The number of deaths reached 85000, that is 1.4% less than in the last year. Compared to January-July 2011, the number of newborn deaths decreased by 1.5%, " the Chairman of the Statistics Agency said.
The main cause of infant mortality is the conditions originating during the perinatal period, from which 1915 infants died in January-July 2012, or 59.3% of the total number of the deaths of infants.
"The number of deaths due to congenital anomalies amounts to 624 babies or 19.3%, 222 babies or 6.9% die of respiratory diseases, and 130 babies or 4.0% - of accidents, poisoning or injuries", A. Smailov added.
