About 200 promising economic projects to be implemented in Kazakhstan

ASTANA. September 24. KAZINFORM The Ministry of Education and Science selected about 200 scientific projects which are promising for introduction of their results in the national economy, the Ministry's press service reported.

Five new scientific priorities including energy, deep conversion of raw materials and products, information and telecommunication technologies, life science and intellectual potential of the country were approved last year.

It is worth noting that the share of universities taking part in implementation of scientific projects increased from 33% in 2010 to 57% in 2012, the www.pm.kz reports.

According to the Ministry, the number of prestigious publications increased more than two times over the last two years. Kazakhstan scientists published 478 articles in 2011. The number of publications reached 500 in the first half of this year. The number of publications is expected to make 800 -1 000 by the yearend. It will allow Kazakhstan to join top countries having over 10 000 publications in 5 years.

Such principally new mechanisms as choice of priorities of science in accordance with the needs of the industrial-innovative development and selection of research projects aimed at practical results for financing have been lunched in the scientific sphere.
