Abay monument to be erected in Tashkent
TASHKENT. May 20. KAZINFORM This year Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan mark the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations. During the celebratory meeting in Tashkent Kazakh Ambassador Boribai Zheksembin announced that a new building of the Kazakh Embassy in Uzbekistan and a monument to the great ancestor of the Kazakhs, Abay Kunanbaev, will be opened in the capital of Uzbekistan on the eve of the Independence Day.
As part of the anniversary events and in order to promote mutual cultural and spiritual ties, on behalf of the Kazakhstan People's Assembly the diplomat invited Chairman of the Uzbekistan Council of Friendship Societies and Cultural and Educational Relations with Foreign Countries Saidahror Gulyamov and Chairman of the International Cultural Centre of Uzbekistan Nasreddin Mukhamadiev to visit Astana with a friendly and fraternal visit.
At present, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, as two major countries in the region, conduct mutually beneficial economic, foreign policy and cultural-humanitarian relationships. "Uzbekistan is the largest neighbor of Kazakhstan in Central Asia, as well as a strategic partner in trade and economic spheres. Each year bilateral trade turnover is growing. Over the past five years it grew up in a few times, and upon the results of the last year amounted to about USD 3 billion," the ambassador said.
