700 km of "Western Europe - Western China" transit corridor to be put into service this year

ASTANA. February 21. KAZINFORM It is planned to open 700 kilometers of "Western Europe - Western China" highway in 2012, Kazakhstan Minister of Transport and Communications Askar Zhumagaliyev said at the Government meeting on Tuesday.
215 kilometers of this project were built in 2011. In 2013 it is planed to put into operation road sections in Aktobe region (101 km), Kyzylorda region (292 km), South Kazakhstan region (254 km) and Zhambyl region (121 km).
"Western Europe - Western China" transit corridor is a strategic project, designed to increase Kazakhstan's cargo transportation 2.5 times by 2020.
