60,000 cu m of meltwater pumped out, 3,000 sandbags laid in Kazakhstan over past 24 h
Some 60,000 cubic meters of meltwater were pumped out, and over 3,000 sandbags were placed over the past 24 hours by the Emergencies Ministry and akimats staff.
2,500 members of the personnel, 700 units of machinery, over 290 water-pumping equipment, and floating crafts of the Kazakh Emergencies Ministry, local executive bodies, the Interior Ministry, and emergencies departments are deployed in emergency rescue works.
Emergencies departments of Astana city, Mangistau, and Kyzylorda regions, and two military units are involved in flood protection works in Aktobe, Kostanay and Akmola regions.
94 people were evacuated from houses flooded by arriving meltwater to safer places. Of which 83 were evacuated in Aktobe region and 11 in Kostanay region. Evacuation of the population in Yekidin village in Kostanay region is underway.
Meltwater is being pumped away from 25 flooded single-family houses, 38 backyards, and 10 basements in Aktobe, Akmola, and Kostanay regions.
Flood protection wall sacks are placed in appropriate locations in Abai, Akmola, Aktobe, East Kazakhstan, West Kazakhstan, Kostanay, and Pavlodar regions.
The Kazakh Emergencies Ministry launched an emergency hotline: 8 713 2 54 86 57.

The republican and regional operations headquarters were set up in the city of Astana, as well as in Aktobe, Abai, Almaty, Akmola, West Kazakhstan, East Kazakhstan, North Kazakhstan, Kostanay, Karaganda, Ulytau and Pavlodar regions.
