5th Astana Economic Forum: new glance at global economic architecture
ASTANA. May 21. KAZINFORM The 5th Astana Economic Forum titled "Global economic transformation: challenges and prospects of development" will be held in the capital of Kazakhstan on May 22-24.
The opening of the 5th Astana Economic Forum with the participation of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev is scheduled for May 23.
The program of the forum includes more than 40 events of different formats with the participation of 6 500 delegates from 85 world countries. Well-known public figures, international experts and Nobel Laureates are expected to take part in the forum.
"Connect Kazakhstan" Eurasian ICT forum, the 7th Innovative Congress, Global energy ecological forum "Kazakhstan's initiatives on energy and ecology", Astana Invest 2012 forum, etc. will be held within the framework of the 5th Astana Economic Forum.
New communicative platform "G-global" which is a unique idea initiated by the President of Kazakhstan will be presented at the session of the 5th Astana Economic Forum.
Besides, an exhibition presenting more than 50 most promising and high technology projects of Kazakhstan will open in the Palace of Independence.
The webcast of the debates "Dialogue of Leaders: New Financial Economic Policy" will be available online on the official site of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Pm.kz at 5:30 p.m. on May 24. Policymakers, economists, journalists will express their opinions about modern financial and economical turmoil in the world at the debates. The participants of the event will also consider the issues of transformation of the global economy and discuss fulfillment of the obligations of G-20 on financial regulation and supervision.
Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Massimov, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Former Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi, President of the Club of Madrid Wim Kok, WTO Deputy Director General Alejandro Jara, Executive Director of the Reinventing Bretton Woods Committee Marc Uzan, former OECD Secretary- General Donald Johnston and others are among the participants of the debates. Nobel Laureates and famous journalists are also expected to take part in the discussions.
The main result of the 5th Astana Economic Forum will be the Open Letter with recommendations for the recovery and development of the global economy sent to the organization committees of the G-8 and the G-20, UN, International Monetary Fund, World Bank and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, Pm.kz reports.
