5,500 new cases of cancer registered in Kyrgyzstan annually

About 5,500 new cases of cancer are registered annually in Kyrgyzstan, the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic said, KABAR reports.
The information was announced at a press meeting in honor of Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) in the Kyrgyz Republic together with the ministry and development partners.
Kyrgyzstan ranks first among Central Asian countries in the number of deaths from cancer. However, early detection of the disease can be achieved through increasing public awareness about the early signs of cancer, regular preventive examination and screening, the report said.
