55,5% of maternal mortality fall on S Kazakhstan
ASTANA. KAZINFORM 55,5% of all maternal mortality and birth rates fall on the southern regions of Kazakhstan for the past 11 months of 2014, the Healthcare and Social Development Ministry's press service said.
A visiting meeting of the national headquarters for high priorities measures aimed at reducing maternal and infant, and circulatory diseases mortality took place in Taraz under the chairmanship of 1st Vice Minister of Healthcare and Social Development of Kazakhstan Salidat Kairbekova. Heads of regional healthcare departments of the Kyzylorda, South Kazakhstan, Almaty, Zhambyl regions and Almaty city, also heads of national lower organizations took part in it. Heads of education departments, chief doctors of perinatal centres and maternity homes reported on the measures taken to raise availability and quality of medical assistance. As stated there, for the past five years the country's maternity death rates reduced threefold, infant mortality by half.
