50 new bridges under construction in South Kazakhstan region
ASTANA. October 24. KAZINFORM In developing the project for reconstruction of sections of the international corridor "Western Europe - Western China" in South-Kazakhstan region special attention was paid to a large number of settlements located along the route.
The project envisages 50 bridges and overpasses connecting the highway with those settlements.
As director of the South Kazakhstan region's department Arman Kaiyrbekov said, the construction of 30 bridges and 13 viaducts is underway. One of them is a bypass road around the city of Turkestan, which is to unclog truck transit traffic that passes through the city, the center of cultural and historical monuments.
No less important is the regulation of traffic flows through the city of Shymkent. The construction of seven solid bridges is underway here.
The overall length of the corridor via South Kazakhstan region is 418 km.
