40 000 grass carp juveniles released in Astana reservoirs
ASTANA. October 9. KAZINFORM - About 40 000 grass carp juveniles were released in the beginning of October in Koyandy and Vyacheslavsk reservoirs by specialists of manufacturing-economic organization “ZhasNur”of Astana city akimat, according to astana.kz.
“Release of grass carp juveniles is carried out in order of further fishing of this kind and amelioration as well. The fact is that grass carp feeds exclusively upon acquatic vegetation and bottom sediments. In two years with their help reservoirs will be cleaned from excessive vegetation, and weight of a grass carp will reach 20 kg”, - they reported in the agency.
The given species of fish, which is also called a “cleaner-fish”, was brought from Taraz to the metropolitan fish nursery on purpose. According to the chief engineer of “ZhasNur” Kairat Bizhanov, survival rate of the grass carp amounts to 40%.
“It’s worth noting, that thanks to release of grass carp in our reservoirs, two main goals will be achieved - rich catch for fishermen and improvement of reservoirs”, - they note in the department.
