3 killed, 40 wounded in bomb explosion at marketplace in northern Iraq

MOSUL. August 29. KAZINFORM Three people were killed and 40 others wounded in a bomb explosion at a crowded popular market in a village in Nineveh province in northern Iraq on Saturday, a provincial police source said, Kazinform refers to Xinhua.

The incident took place in the village of al-Shimal near the town of Sinjar, some 120 km northwest of the provincial capital of Mosul, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

    The blast destroyed several near by shops and stalls and caused damage to surrounding buildings, the source said.

    Earlier in the day, a police source in Salahudin province said that at least three policemen were killed and six people wounded when a suicide bomber blew up his explosive-laden car outside a police station adjacent to a crowded marketplace in the village of Sheikh Hammad in Sherqat area in northern the province, Kazinform cites Xinhua.
