"Annually about 3,000 are killed and 29,000 suffer injuries in road crashes in Kazakhstan. We have to exert every effort to reduce traffic-realted death rates," he stressed. Nevertheless, about 20,000 people were injured in 2012 and 32,000 in 2013 which means that mortality decreased from 15% to 9,2%, mainly due to new emergency assistance standards and rescue stations opened along the dangerous sections of highways. As stated there, accidents, traumas and poisoning round out the top three leading causes of death.
