26 people killed, over 400 seek medical aid in Osh massive riots

BISHKEK. June 11. KAZINFORM Some 26 people were killed in the ongoing massive riots in the Kyrgyz city of Osh, the Kyrgyz Health Ministry reported. The number of those who sought medical aid exceeded 400 people; Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.

A state of emergency was declared and a curfew was introduced in Osh and neighboring regions. Additional forces and military hardware of the Kyrgyz Defence Ministry and the Interior Troops rushed to the city. Servicemen were permitted to open fire at the instigators of riots in case of a threat for the life of civilians. The eyewitnesses noted that the troops are controlling mainly the central part of the city, but the shootouts continue on its outskirts; Kazinform cites Itar-Tass.
