21st World Petroleum Congress - Moscow, June 2014
MOSCOW. KAZINFORM - From the 15-19 June 2014 Russia will host the 21st World Petroleum Congress in Moscow. With over 5000 delegates expected and exhibition space of more than 55,000 sqm, this Congress will once again cement its role as the "Olympics of the oil and gas industry".
With plenary and keynote addresses from the most influential industry leaders, 600 plus expert presentations and over 500 CEOs and thousands of specialists to network with, the Congress promises to be one of the most successful in the 80 year history of WPC, according to the website World Petroleum .
Highlights of the Congress will include the Opening Ceremony at the Kremlin Palace and the Russian Night in Gorky Park, together with regular features such as the Global Business Opportunities Centre with country stands from the 70 WPC member countries, the interactive digital Poster Plaza, the Global Village showcasing social responsibility projects, the Youth Lounge with a full engagement programme and many more. Congress theme: Responsibly Energising a Growing World As the world population increases, access to affordable, safe and reliable sources of energy will be a key factor in promoting economic development and well-being for humankind. Oil and natural gas will continue to be the world's leading energy resource for the foreseeable future. Meeting future demand in a sustainable and socially responsible manner will require massive investments, leading edge technologies, the highest skilled human resources, and superior ethical business practices. Producers, consumers, governments and societies need to cooperate responsibly to develop all energy resources. To do so, the industry has to energise its professionals; in particular the youth, to become even more innovative in ensuring future growth.
Kazakhstan actively participated in the XV, XIX and XX Congresses providing special sessions and exhibition stands. The Kazakhstan National Committee to WPC plans to conduct a separate Ministerial Session within the framework of the Congress Program. This session will be devoted to the prospects for the development of the oil and gas industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan and will be attended by senior executives from the Ministry of Oil and Gas of the Republic of Kazakhstan, key companies and international experts including Minister of Oil and Gas Uzakbay Karabalin, KazTransOil JSC General Director Kairgeldy Kabyldin, Tengizchevroil LLP General Director Tim Miller, Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V.
