21st century Silk Road to unite SCO
ASTANA. KAZINFORM The Silk Road International Cultural Forum has started its work today in Astana to focus on multilateral humanitarian cooperation of SCO member countries.
Opening its plenary sitting Kazakh Culture and Sport Minister A. Mukhamediuly read out the Kazakh President's address, the ministry's press service said. According to the head of the Chinese Silk Road Fund, the present forum is of great importance in the light of the countries' striving to create the joint Silk Road Economic Belt of the 21st century. But for economic cooperation, we should also develop cultural ties. And we hope that the forum will help our cultural cooperation embark on a new level," he added. Heads of the largest museums and theaters, scientists, workers of art and culture, well-known political analysts, reps of international organizations of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan participate in the three-day event under the patronage of the culture ministries of Kazakhstan and China. The working groups discuss proposals concerning multivector cultural cooperation of SCO countries. Those gathered suggest developing a mechanism of multifaceted cooperation. Tomorrow, the heads of delegations will sign an Astana Consensus to build a new platform for long-term international cultural cooperation and multilateral cooperation within SCO.
