2024 Olympic Games: Kazakh wrestlers Sultangaly, Syzdykov to compete in Men's Greco-Roman event

Today, August 5, a wrestling event is set to commence in the Champ de Mars Arena at the ongoing 2024 Paris Olympic Games, Kazinform News Agency cites Sports.kz.

Two Kazakh wrestlers Aidos Sultangaly (60kg) and Alimkhan Syzdykov (130kg) will represent Kazakhstan in Men's Greco-Roman event. The live broadcast will begin at 6.00pm and will be available for viewing on El Arna TV channel.

Alimkhan Syzdykov is set to fight against Alin Alexuc Ciurariu of Romania in Men's Greco-Roman 130kg 1/8 Final. Meanwhile, Aidos Sultangaly will face Kyrgyz Zholaman Sharshenbekov.

In case of victory in two matches, Kazakhstani athletes will compete in semifinals on August 6. Khabar TV channel will air the bouts live at 12.00 am.

Runner Olga Safronova of Kazakhstan will make her second attempt at the women’s 200m semi-finals in repechage round. The live broadcast will begin at 3.50pm Astana time and will be available for viewing on Khabar TV channel.

It bears to remind that runner Norah Jeruto of Kazakhstan reached the final of the women's 3000m steeplechase.

Earlier it was reported that Kazakhstan's gymnast Nariman Kurbanov brought Kazakhstan silver at the ongoing Olympic Games in Paris.

Kazakhstani Nazym Kyzaibay beat Lorena Valencia of Colombia 3-2 in the women’s 50kg quarterfinal event.

The 2024 Olympic Games in Paris are set to run from July 26 through August 11. The Games brought together 10,500 athletes from 206 national Olympic committees. Team Kazakhstan is represented by 80 athletes in 25 sports.
