2010 results show Kazakhstan recovering from effects of global crisis
MOSCOW. March 31. KAZINFORM /Narymbek Ismagulov/ Last year Kazakhstan achieved quite impressive results, and generally came out of the crisis. Kazakh Vice Minister of Economic Development and Trade Timur Suleimenov said it at a roundtable on socio-economic development in the Customs Union member states, which was held in Moscow on Wednesday.
According to the Vice Minister, in 2010 Kazakhstan showed effective results of recovery from the global crisis. The country's GDP increased by 7 percent and exceeded USD 140 billion. "This is very good and healthy growth," T. Suleimenov noted.
He also pointed out positive trends in socio-economic parameters, particularly regarding the employment. "At the beginning of 2009 the unemployment level was 6.5 percent. A year later it decreased to 5.5 percent."
"In addition, the trade turnover, which amounted to USD 90 billion, is encouraging and shows openness and involvement of Kazakhstan in the world economy," the Deputy Minister emphasized.
