1st international festival of classic music Astana Piano Passion on in Kazakh capital
ASTANA. May 12. KAZINFORM - In Astana, in the Central Concert Hall called "Kazakhstan" there was an opening ceremony of the first International Festival of classical music and competition for young pianists - «Astana Piano Passion». The competition joins 30 pianists, young talents from around the world: Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Japan, USA, Australia, South Korea, Denmark, Italy, Armenia, Korea, Singapore and China.
Artistic director and honorary chairman of the jury, People's Artist of Russia, the world star in the field of classical music is pianist Denis Matsuev.
The program of festive events includes performances of D.Matsuev with the Symphony Orchestra of the State Philharmonic of Astana led by the honored Yerzhan Dautov. Maestro D.Matsuyev performs Concerto for Piano and Orchestra # 2 by Sergei Rachmaninoff. As acknowledged by the world's music critics, Denis is the most respected performer of Rachmaninoff's works.
The concert in the festival's opening ceremony was also attended by Fellows Foundation called "New Names" Elizabeth Seselkin, Sina Ma, and Daniel Kharitonov. Gala concert has been conducted by the People's Artist of Russia, musicologist and critic Svyatoslav Belza.
The prize fund is equal to 50 thousand of U.S. dollars. Grand Prix winner will receive an acoustic baby grand piano of «YAMAHA» from D.Matsuev. One of the prizes from the mayor of the city of Astana will be a scholarship to study music in a college in any country up to the choice of a participant.
The contest will be held from May 10 to 16 this year at the best concert halls of the capital - in the concert hall "Kazakhstan", the Palace of Peace and Accord and the Kazakh National University of Arts named "Shabyt."
