18 universities selected for spreading Nazarbayev University's experience
ASTANA. September 21. KAZINFORM The Nazarbayev University is called on to become a new growth point in the system of higher education of Kazakhstan. Scientific and educational experience of this university will be spread and applied at 18 universities of the country.
"The Nazarbayev University and Intellectual Schools are successfully functioning on the basis of the international standards. The network of advanced technical and vocational education institutions significantly develops. This experience needs to be spread among the entire educational system of Kazakhstan," President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized in the Address to the Nation "Social and economic modernization - main direction of development of Kazakhstan", Pm.kz site informs.
In accordance with the information of the Ministry of Education and Science, 18 basic universities of the country have been selected this year for spreading the experience of the Nazarbayev University. It will become another step toward integration into the global educational system and science and toward implementation of the principles of the Bologna Process.
Presently, the ways of transitions of these universities to autonomy are being developed. Supervisory councils with strong enacted into law responsibilities have been functioning at four leading universities of the country since 2012. One of the important factors of spreading this valuable experience is preparation of people having command of many languages and development of the trinity of languages. In order to achieve these goals, special departments with the total number of people studying there 5.5 thousand people will be opened at 32 universities. Besides, big projects for preparation of top-managers of high schools with involvement of the international experts are implemented.
Educational programs meeting the best international policies, new standards of holding scientific researches, principles of autonomy and academic freedom tested on the basis of the Nazarbayev University will be spread among all the universities of the country.
The Foundation Program aimed at preparation for enrollment at universities is currently functioning at the Nazarbayev University as well as three schools which render their services on 18 specialties within bachelor's degree program.
Besides, the Nazarbayev University has three high schools. There is also the first master's degree program of the university - Executive MBA which begins in December 2012
It is worth noting that in 2012-2013 academic year 512 students will begin their study within the Foundation Program at the university, 510 students will begin their education on the bachelor's degree program and 456 students continue their education within the same program.
Besides, the Nazarbayev University admitted 28 students this year for the first time without studying on the preparation courses of the Foundation Program for a year and 2 people were transferred from the other universities of the country.
The Nazarbayev University established on the initiative of the Head of the State is called on to ensure significant development in the education sphere and promoting the education and science of Kazakhstan to the global level. The university becomes a platform for testing new innovative programs and scientific projects.
