17 killed by lightning in N India

NEW DELHI. August 25. KAZINFORM Seventeen people, including women and children, have been killed by lightning across Bihar in northern India since Tuesday, reported the Indo-Asian News Service Wednesday, Kazinform refers to Xinhua.

The news service quoted officials of disaster management department as saying that 10 men, five women and two children have been killed by bolts of lightning in Bihar.

Over a dozen people also sustained burn injuries, said the report.

The state government has announced a compensation of 100,000 rupees (2,000 U.S. dollars) each for victims' kins.
