MOSCOW. June 6. KAZINFORM The number of officially confirmed cholera cases in Ukraine has reached 13. Russia's Rospotrebnadzor consumer rights watchdog has stepped up checks on air and railway travellers arriving in Russia from Ukraine, Rospotrebnadzor sources told Itar-Tass on Monday.

"We have imposed strict control in connection with a cholera epidemic in Ukraine," they said. This means that transport sanitary services will be watchful of the arriving passengers who are running high temperature or have other symptoms of that infectious disease. Aircraft crews will also undergo medical checks.

An outbreak of cholera that began late in May was fixed in Mariupol in Ukraine's Donetsk region; Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.
