11 y.o Kazakh table tennis player grabs gold at WTT Youth Contender Ismailia 2024
Kazakhstan’s Zhaniya Bekmukhambetova won a gold medal in the U13 Girls' Singles finals at the WTT Youth Contender Ismailia 2024 in Egypt, Kazinform News Agency learnt from the National Olympic Committee.
The 11-year-old Kazakh athlete participated in seven matches, securing a victory in each.
Zhaniya pocketed a gold medal in the U11 Girls' Singles finals at the WTT Youth Contender Varazdin 2024 in Croatia in August this year.
Earlier it was earlier reported that Kazakhstan's male team had shown historic result at the 27th ITTF Asian Table Tennis Championships. Team Kazakhstan clashed with Iran. Defeating Iranian athletes with a score of 3-1, the Kazakh team landed 7th spot at the competition. A total of 24 national teams participated in the event.
As highlighted by the NOC, this result marked a historic achievement for Kazakhstan, as the country had not previously reached such a high ranking in men's team competitions. Additionally, this was the third consecutive occasion that the national team had secured a position within the top eight.
