"International terrorism has turned into a real problem, it becomes more and more serious threat for everybody and everyone. Europe needs more compromises and agreements. But to reach them is not an easy task", V. Yanukovich noted.

"Today's Summit is an outstanding event!", he added.

"Our goal is to give a strong political impulse to achieve a new quality of the OSCE activity. We must send a signal to our nations that the basic principles existing in Europe - freedom, democracy and human rights - constitute a solid base for our interaction", the Ukrainian President pointed out.

According to V. Yanukovich, Ukraine considers the OSCE as a unique platform for building the common space of equal and indivisible security. "This is the space where the conflicts are regulated by peaceful means only, on the basis of international law", he said and added that the states which were outside the military blocks and which had voluntarily renounced their nuclear arsenals should be fully guaranteed security in this space.

Besides, the President of Ukraine stressed that the OSCE Summit in Astana provided a real chance to set to building the 'European house' founded in 1975 in Helsinki. "Ukraine does not see any alternatives for democratic development and adheres to the democratic initiatives", Yanukovich pointed out.

"Ukraine stands for transformation of the OSCE into an international organization meeting all legal standards, capable of opening new ways towards achievement of goals set. Today's meeting gives us a chance to set to construction of the 'European house' founded in 1975 in Helsinki. For this we need strong political will", the Ukrainian President resumed.
