Sustainable development and security issues discussed in Turkmenistan

 ASHGABAT. December 5. KAZINFORM Issues of sustainable development and security in the CIS space were discussed at the CIS Meeting of Heads of States with the participation of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev in Turkmenistan, Kazinform  correspondent reports.

According to the Kazakh President, issues of trade, economic, culture and humanitarian cooperation were also in the focus of the meeting's attention.

Participants of the CIS Summit made a decision on the preparations for the 70th anniversary of the Second World War Victory.

The CIS leaders agreed it was necessary to honor veterans and home front workers. The Victory in the II World War is a major historical event, bringing together the CIS countries.

An interstate program "Cultural Capital of the Commonwealth" was adopted following the meeting as well.  The program is very important for bringing together the peoples of the CIS countries, with good neighborly relations, customs and traditions.  Astana and Mary cities in Turkmenistan were declared the cultural capitals of the Commonwealth.

In addition, 2013 was declared the Year of the CIS environmental culture and protection.

Besides,  a package of documents including an agreement on cooperation in training anti-terrorist units, and an agreement on the establishment of the Chief Executives Board of Financial Intelligence states - participants of CIS has been signed.
