Mark Cavendish finishes 3rd in Tour Colombia opening stage

After a few weeks of training camp in Colombia a part of Astana Qazaqstan Team debuted in the 2024 cycling season with Stage 1 of the Tour Colombia from Paipa to Duitama of 155.8 km, Kazinform News Agency reports.
In the bunch sprint Astana’s Mark Cavendish took a third place, while all other team riders finished inside the main group, including GC guys Alexey Lutsenko and Harold Tejada, a press release on the team's official website reads.
Mark Cavendish on this third place:
Well, the result could have been worse, but it could have been better. This is my best debut race for a few years and the strength of our team was evident, so we can take so many positives from the race and know that we are working towards winning.
