Kazakh President attended 'Astana Solar' plant precommissioning

ASTANA. December 25. KAZINFORM President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has attended the start of the precommissioning operations at the plant for the production of photovoltaic modules LLP "Astana Solar", a subsidiary of JSC "NAC "Kazatomprom," in Astana.

The launching ceremony was also attended by the chairman of the Board of National Welfare Fund "Samruk-Kazyna" Umirzak Shukeyev, Astana Mayor Imangali Tasmagambetov, President of "Kazatomprom" Vladimir Shkolnik and representatives of the French business community - the project partners.

The plant is the final link in a major technological project "KazPV." A new plant in Astana will use Kazakhstan silicium as a raw material for production of solar cells.

The enterprise will employ 175 Kazakhstani specialists of various profiles. The plant's products will go to internal and external markets. This project is the realization of the strategic agreements on industrial and innovative cooperation between Kazakhstan and France reached during the official visit of the Kazakh President to France in October 2010.
